INTERDISCIPLINARIDADE ENTRE ODONTOLOGIA E FONOAUDIOLOGIA: PLACA PALATINA DE MEMÓRIA EM BEBÊ COM SÍNDROME DE DOWN

Resumo


A síndrome de Down (SD) é uma condição genética, caracterizada pelo material excedente no cromossomo 21. Os indivíduos com SD apresentam déficit cognitivo, hipotonia, subdesenvolvimento do terço médio da face, da maxila e disfagia. Este artigo propõe-se a relatar um caso clínico de um bebê, 12 meses com síndrome de Down (SD) em que foi confeccionada uma placa palatina de memória para a melhora do quadro de falta de selamento labial, protrusão e hipotonia de língua, engasgos e disfagia. A placa juntamente com o trabalho de motricidade oral realizado por fonoaudióloga capacitada durante 18 meses parece ter auxiliado no desenvolvimento craniofacial, selamento labial e correção do quadro de disfagia. É importante ressaltar que os resultados alcançados foram obtidos por meio do trabalho e planejamento conjunto da Ortodontia com a Fonoaudiologia.
